Chief Justice of india DY Chandrachud on thursday (April 25) announced that the supreme court will allow advocates to communicate cause lists and filing and listing of cases through whatsapp messages. Will start sharing information. Justice Chandrachud made the announcement before a nine-judge bench headed by CJI Chandrachud began hearing a complex legal question arising out of the petitions. The question arising out of the petitions was whether private properties can be considered material resources of the community under Article 39(B) of the Constitution, which is a part of the Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP).

CJI DY Chandrachud said, 'In its 75th year, the supreme court has taken an initiative which aims to further strengthen access to justice by integrating whatsapp messages with the IT services of the court.' He said that now advocates will receive automated messages about filing cases. Justice Chandrachud also said that after the publication of the cause list, bar members will receive the list on their mobile phones.

Cause list means the hearing of the case by the court on a fixed date. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said, this is a revolutionary step. The Chief Justice also shared the official whatsapp number of the supreme court and said that no messages and calls will be received on it.

CJI Chandrachud said, 'This will bring a significant change in our working habits and will help a lot in saving documents.' Under the leadership of Chief Justice Chandrachud, the supreme court is taking steps to digitalize the functioning of the judiciary. He said that the central government has approved Rs 7,000 crore for the e-court project.
