Millions of people across the country travel by train. indian Railways provides a wide range of facilities to passengers. Many times the train gets delayed due to some reason and people get inconvenienced. indian Railways gives full refund in case of train delay.

But there are some conditions. Know what the indian Railway Rules say. Many people who travel by train are not aware of the refund facility. To get the full amount of the ticket, the passenger has to make a refund for which the Ticket Deposit Receipt or DTR has to be filed.

Ticket Refund Process

Passengers can book TDR on the official website of irctc or at the ticket counter. However, it takes at least 90 days to receive the refund. First visit the irctc website and login. Select "File Ticket Deposit Receipt (DTR)" in the 'Services' tab.

After this, go to My Transactions click on “TDR File” and proceed. Your request request will be forwarded to Railways. The refund will be credited to the same bank account where the person booked the ticket.

According to the rules of indian Railways, passengers can get refund if the train is late. If the train is delayed by more than 3 hours, passengers can get a refund. However, no refund will be given in case of cancellation of a confirmed Tatkal ticket.
