Despite competition from congress and aam aadmi party (AAP), key constituents of the opposition alliance 'India' in prime minister Narendra Modi's home state gujarat, the bharatiya janata party (BJP) seems confident of retaining all 26 lok sabha seats. Voting for the lok sabha elections in gujarat will be held in a single phase on May 7 and counting of votes will take place on june 4.

congress and aam aadmi party (AAP) had contested the 2022 state assembly elections separately. In this election, bharatiya janata party got 156 out of 182 seats in the assembly. In the upcoming lok sabha elections, congress will contest on 24 seats, while AAP candidates will try their luck from Bharuch and Bhavnagar.

gujarat was divided into four regions

BJP's gujarat unit chief CR Patil has said that the party is eyeing victory on each seat by a margin of five lakh votes. The congress will be hoping for a performance like the 2009 lok sabha elections when it won 11 out of 26 seats in the state. Whereas if AAP wins even one seat in the lok sabha elections after its performance in the assembly, it will strengthen its position as an opposition party.

gujarat is divided into four regions, Saurashtra and kutch, North gujarat, South gujarat and Central Gujarat. All the eight lok sabha seats of Saurashtra and kutch have been with bjp for a long time. This time the focus will be on Porbandar and rajkot from where bjp has fielded Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Union minister Purushottam Rupala. Both the ministers have so far reached parliament through Rajya Sabha.
