The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned jharkhand congress mla Amba prasad and her brother for questioning next month in a money laundering case. Sources said that 36-year-old prasad has been asked to appear on april 4, 2024, while his brother Ankit Sao has been summoned the next day on april 5. Amba prasad represents the Barkagaon constituency in the jharkhand Assembly. Sources also said that the ED wants to record his statement under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The Enforcement Directorate had earlier this week raided the premises of Amba Prasad, her father and former minister Yogendra Sao and associates as part of its investigation into alleged extortion, levy collection, illegal sand mining and land grabbing.
35 lakh cash and documents seizedThe investigating agency had said on thursday March 14 that Rs 35 lakh in cash and documents were seized 'unaccounted' during these raids. The case is based on 15 FIRs lodged by jharkhand Police under the indian Penal Code and Arms Law against Sao, his family members and their associates.
Amba prasad and father accused of extortionED has not clarified from where the cash and documents were seized. It has been alleged in the FIRs that Yogendra Sao and Amba Prasad, along with their associates, were involved in various criminal activities like extortion, levy collection, illegal sand mining and land grabbing. All of them earned money from these crimes.
Amba Prasad's reaction on ED raidExpressing strong displeasure over the ED raid, congress mla Amba prasad said that bjp had sent her an invitation to contest the lok sabha elections from Hazaribagh and Chatra. However, the mla rejected this offer of BJP. He had given this information to the congress in-charge. Amba prasad claims that the ED raid is being conducted due to bjp not accepting the offer.
