PM Modi inaugurated Bihar Sharif to Asthawan railway line
train operations between bihar Sharif and Asthawan will start soon. On tuesday (March 12), prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Asthawan railway station through video conferencing. With this, the people of Nalanda have got the gift of another new railway line. Due to this, happiness is clearly visible among the people here.
Goods train has started operating on this railway line
Actually, it is a part of Biharsharif-Shekhpura railway section. rail operations are likely to start up to Barbigha this year. About Rs 1473 crore is to be spent on the entire railway section. Chandrashekhar Prasad, in-charge manager working at Asthawan station, said that at present a MEMU train will be run from Biharsharif to Asthawan on this railway section. Goods train has already been operated.

Biharsharif-Kiul distance will be around 69 kilometers
Asthawan station will be an important station of bihar Sharif-Barbigha railway section, hence for now operations will be carried out only from bihar Sharif to Asthawan. Soon the main line will be connected to Kiul. With this, the distance between Biharsharif-Kiul will remain around 69 kilometers. Let us tell you that the distance from Biharsharif to Asthawan is 13 kilometers. The then Railway minister Nitish Kumar had started the construction of Biharsharif-Sheikhpura railway section in Sheikhpura in the year 2003. Due to land acquisition and other administrative reasons, the construction period of this railway section was continuously extended. In june 2023, the Railways had conducted a trial on the railway section till Asthawan.
