The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a fresh complaint in a court seeking prosecution against delhi chief minister arvind kejriwal for not complying with summons in a money laundering probe. Official sources said on wednesday (March 6) that the new complaint pertains to non-compliance of summons numbers 4 to 8 by aam aadmi party (AAP) national convenor Kejriwal.

The court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) divya Malhotra has scheduled the hearing of the case on Thursday. The ED had earlier filed a petition in a local court seeking prosecution against cm arvind kejriwal for not appearing on the first three summons issued to him in the money laundering investigation related to delhi Excise Policy. The court has listed this case for hearing on march 16. delhi chief minister arvind kejriwal had termed all these eight summons of ED as illegal and had last informed the federal agency that he could be interrogated through video conferencing after march 12.

ED filed a new complaint

The ED has filed a fresh complaint under sections 174 (disobedience to order of public servant) of the indian Penal Code (IPC) read with section 63 (4) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), among other sections. This section of PMLA pertains to willful disobedience of any instruction.

cm arvind kejriwal did not appear for questioning on monday even after the eighth summons of ED and had expressed his desire to appear through video conference on march 12. Regarding this, he had said, "It is written in the law that ED proceedings are like judicial proceedings. This means that the agency is like a court. Any party is allowed to appear in the court through video conference."
