Andhra Pradesh Elections: Capital Tensions.!

The political landscape in andhra pradesh is undergoing a shift as the focus of the elections turns towards hyderabad, with the ruling party Yuvajana Sramika Rythu congress party (YSRCP) indirectly expressing interest in retaining it as the capital for an additional two years. Senior party leader yv subbareddy initially raised the suggestion, but data-faced criticism and subsequently retracted his statement, emphasizing that it was personal.

The telugu desam party (TDP) strongly criticized YSRCP, accusing them of seeking hyderabad after compromising Amaravati's capital status. Despite expectations of settling the controversy, the issue unexpectedly reached the high court with a public interest litigation filed. The petition, brought by Podili Anilkumar of 'Praja Sankshema Seva Sangam,' urges the Union home Ministry Secretary to enact legislation declaring hyderabad as the joint capital for another ten years.

Anilkumar argues that the deadline for declaring hyderabad as the joint capital, which concludes on june 2, has not seen the completion of the asset, debt, and corporation partition between telangana and andhra pradesh, as outlined in the ap Partition Act-2014. He asserts his right to demand an extension of hyderabad as the joint capital since the provisions of the Partition Act have not been fully implemented. The high court has accepted the petition for hearing.

Political circles suggest Anilkumar's data-alignment with YSRCP, leading tdp leaders to intensify efforts against this development. They claim that YSRCP is deliberately attempting to divert the capital issue ahead of the upcoming elections. The unfolding events will determine the twists and turns this matter may take in the lead-up to the elections.
