Monkey Man: dev patel removed the main scene of 'Monkey Man' due to political reasons. Apologized to Makrand Deshpande!

Actor Makrand Deshpande recently shared that an important scene of his in the action film 'Monkey Man' was cut. He was informed about the edits by the film's director and star Dev Patel just before its US premiere. According to Makrand, this scene was the 'soul' of the film and was crucial to its underlying philosophy. Despite the anticipation of the film, it is still awaiting theatrical release in India.

In a conversation with siddharth Kanan, Makrand said, 'I went to california for the premiere of Monkey Man. Earlier, dev patel said that he wanted to talk to me. He said, 'This is the scene I like the most, but we had to edit it out for some reason... because of some political reasons... you understand' and he would just mutter. I kept looking at him and said, 'Dev, wasn't that scene the philosophy of your film?'

Makarand Deshpande further said, 'When I saw the film, I said, no problem. But I know that scene - what fun it would have been if he had stayed. It had the essence that an edited scene may not matter to the audience, but it does matter to the actor. In my understanding, this was the root (soul) of the film, it may not have been for Dev. It is getting a lot of critical praise, later it may enter the oscar race and it is like his Satya.

Monkey Man, starring dev patel as a child who seeks revenge against corrupt politicians responsible for his mother's death, was initially scheduled to be released in india on april 19. However, the release is reportedly pending due to the need for clearance from CBFC due to depiction. of violence, sexual content, and references to Hindu religion and mythology. Following its release on VOD in the US, the film has been pirated, leading trade sources to speculate that the chances of a theatrical release in india are becoming less likely.

However, in an interview, Makarand assured that 'Monkey Man' will be released in India and the makers are already in talks with the respective teams regarding the same. He said that the release of 'Monkey Man' in india has probably been delayed due to the ongoing lok sabha elections. He assured that there was nothing objectionable in the film and said that the film would eventually be released in India.
