Politics in the name of religion and caste

The influence and entanglement of muscle power and money power in politics and electoral process has been going on for years. Despite all efforts, there has been no improvement in this direction. Their importance in the electoral process is increasing with time. Now every political party and its leaders are openly trying to create vote bank in the name of religion and caste in the elections.

We see that even during the election campaign, many leaders are not at all afraid of evoking religious and caste sentiments and asking for votes in their name. On this aspect, the role of the election commission appears to be no more than that of a mute spectator. Whereas in our Constitution, constitutionally and legally, the election commission has been included as a very powerful institution. Despite this, in recent years votes are being openly sought in the name of religion and caste. The government is silent and so is the election Commission.

Common citizens suffer the most

Playing with the electoral process or rigging it and the government dominating the electoral system cannot in any way be considered good for democracy. The biggest and most terrible loss in this is the citizens of the country. As soon as the government or political parties completely dominate the electoral process, the process of curtailment of civil rights accelerates. This thing should not be forgotten. From public opinion building to election campaigning, efforts are being made to take the citizens away from the real importance of elections by keeping the issues of religion and caste dominant. Instead of citizen-centric discussion, efforts are being made to limit the entire electoral process to discussions related to the interests of political parties, especially the ruling parties.
