Accordingly bharatiya janata party (BJP) led gujarat government presented a budget of Rs 3.32 lakh crore on Friday. There is no proposal for any new tax in this. Presenting the budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the assembly here on the second day of the budget session, Finance minister Kanubhai Desai told the house that the budget of Rs 3,32,465 crore is 10.44 percent more than the previous financial year. The budget expenditure in the last financial year was Rs 31,444 crore. The state government presented the budget with an estimated surplus of Rs 146.72 crore. No new tax has been proposed in the budget. Desai announced several schemes and projects in his budgetary address.

Meanwhile he said that while preparing the budget, the state government kept knowledge (GIAN) i.e. ‘poor’, ‘youth’, ‘annadata’ and ‘women power’ at the core. Under the newly proposed 'Namo Lakshmi' scheme, girls studying in government, aided and private schools from class 9th to 12th will be given Rs 50,000 over the four years of their education. A provision of Rs 1,250 crore has been made in the budget for this programme. Under the ‘Nama Shri’ scheme, pregnant women from backward and poor classes will be given assistance of Rs 12,000. For this, a provision of Rs 750 crore has been made in the budget. The Finance minister also announced the conversion of seven municipalities Navsari, Gandhidham, Morbi, Vapi, Anand, Mehsana and Surendranagar-Wadhwan into municipal corporations.

Moreover he also announced the 'Jan Rakshak' scheme, under which all emergency services including police and fire brigade can be contacted by dialing 112. The state budget also provides for expansion of the existing 'riverfront' on Sabarmati to GIFT-City (Gujarat international Finance Tech-City) in Gandhinagar in phases four and five. The state government has also proposed to provide relief of Rs 754 crore to the citizens by simplifying some provisions of the Motor vehicles Act and stamp duty.
