Reportedly on this, the mosque side claims that no temple was demolished on anyone's orders in 1669. The mosque in the Gyanvapi complex remained in the possession of Anjuman Intezamia Masjid. The management of Gyanvapi Masjid was not in the hands of any other person or organization other than Anjuman Intezamia Masjid. The mosque side questions in the court that whether the books on which the Hindu side claims to demolish the temple are the gazettes of the government of india or the government of Uttar Pradesh? There could be many reasons behind why someone wrote what 350 years ago, such as the inclination of the author. We can rely only on government notifications.

Meanwhile the mosque side said that the 'cut off date' for them is 15 august 1947. There is no point in looking at 300, 700 or 1500 years old history. The mosque side presented Khasra Khatauni present in the government records to prove the Gyanvapi complex as their property. He considers those maps as important evidence in his favor. The Masjid Committee, in its reply presented in the court, has said that the name of the structure built on plot number 9130 is Alamgiri or Gyanvapi. This structure is more than a thousand years old and since then Muslims have been offering namaz here daily.

There is an ancient well in the Gyanvapi complex. The temple side says that in Satyayuga, that well was built by lord shiva himself with his trident. This well was named Gyanvapi and later the entire complex came to be known by this name.
