SP released the list of 16 candidates for Lok Sabha ticket to MLA from Ambedkar Nagar
According to sources Samajwadi party has started preparations before the announcement of lok sabha elections. SP has given lok sabha ticket to Lalji Verma from Ambedkar Nagar. On Tuesday, SP released the first list of lok sabha candidates. Lalji Verma's name is also included in the list of 16 candidates. Lalji Verma will contest from Ambedkar nagar lok sabha seat. Lalji Verma is considered a big leader of the Kurmi community.
Meanwhile the politics of Uttar Pradesh is stuck in caste based politics. After Yadav, Kurmi is said to be the second largest caste of OBC category. Seeing the dominance of Kurmi voters in Ambedkar nagar, SP has expressed confidence in Lalji Verma. National General Secretary Lalji Verma will contest the elections. Presently Lalji Verma is mla from Katehri Assembly. Before SP, Lalji Verma had also been in BSP. Before the 2022 assembly elections, Lalji Verma was expelled from BSP by Mayawati.
Moreover after being expelled from BSP, Lalji Verma rode a bicycle. Lalji Verma was accused of indulging in anti-party activities during the panchayat elections. After being expelled from BSP, Lalji Verma joined SP. In the 2022 assembly elections, SP declared Lalji Verma as its candidate from Katehri seat of Ambedkar Nagar. He captured the Katehri seat by defeating congress candidate Nishat Fatima. Now SP has given a chance to Lalji Verma to contest the lok sabha elections. SP had fought the 2019 lok sabha elections in alliance with BSP. BSP had won 10 seats. Five SP candidates were successful in winning the lok sabha elections.
