Russia has maintained a longstanding and amicable relationship with india, a sentiment reciprocated by indian prime minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin, who holds india in high regard, made noteworthy comments during India's Republic Day celebrations, commending India's foreign policy. He lauded India's stance of independence in foreign affairs, remarking on the challenges of such a pursuit in the contemporary world. 

Speaking to university students in russia on 'Russian Student Day,' Putin specifically praised prime minister Modi's leadership, acknowledging India's right, with its population of approximately 1.5 billion, to pursue an autonomous foreign policy. He emphadata-sized the difficulty of exerting external influence on India's political landscape, stating that such efforts would be futile.


Putin extolled india as one of the fastest-growing nations globally and credited this progress to prime minister Modi's leadership. He expressed confidence in Modi's decision-making, asserting that the indian leader acts in the country's best interests. In a subtle warning to external forces, Putin cautioned against political meddling in india, emphasizing that such attempts would not yield success.


 The Russian President underscored the rich cultural ties between the two nations, noting that russia stands among the few countries broadcasting indian movies on national tv channels. Putin also highlighted collaborative efforts with indian partners in implementing the 'Make in India' program, indicating Russia's significant role in foreign investments in india across various sectors such as oil refineries, gas stations, and ports.
