Jallikattu competitions are usually held on Pongal. For the first time in tamilnadu Jallikattu competition will be held in Avaniyapuram, madurai district. After that, jallikattu competitions are usually held at various places including Palamedu, Alankanallur.

Alankanallur jallikattu became world famous. However, there was no separate place for jallikattu competition and it was held inside the town. As the VIPs often occupy the main gallery near Wadivasal, there is no space for the general public and foreigners who come to watch the jallikattu competition.

In order to solve these problems, chief minister M.K.Stalin announced in the Legislative assembly that a huge Jallikattu playground will be set up on 66 acres in Keegarai village near Alankanallur so that Jallikattu can be enjoyed by all parties. Accordingly, a world-class jallikattu ground is being built at a cost of Rs.44 crores in Keezakarai village near Alankanallur, madurai district, so that thousands of people can sit and watch at the same time.

In this situation, madurai Alankanallur Jallikattu Ground has been named as Artist Centenary Climbing Stadium. minister Murthy said, "The jallikattu arena, which has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 66 crore, has been named as the 'Artist Centenary Climbing Arena' at Keezakarai near Alankanallur, Madurai. chief minister M.K.Stalin will soon inaugurate this arena.” said.
