Devendra Yadav's big statement, said- 'Any agreement with AAP...'
Congress' punjab in-charge Devendra Yadav said on monday that any agreement with the aam aadmi party (AAP) in the state for the upcoming lok sabha elections will be done in accordance with the sentiments of the state unit of the party. His statement came at a time when congress and AAP held a meeting in the national capital to discuss seat sharing in punjab and delhi for the general elections. Both the parties involved in the 'India' alliance decided to meet again to finalize the agreement.
Devendra Yadav reached amritsar on monday on a three-day tour of the state. He will meet senior leaders of punjab congress, party MLAs and block presidents and others in the next three days. He is visiting the state for the first time after being appointed in-charge of punjab last month. After reaching amritsar, Yadav paid obeisance at the golden temple and offered prayers at Durgiana temple and Lord Valmiki Tirath. During his visit to amritsar, punjab Pradesh congress Committee chief amarinder singh Raja Wadding, leader of opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa and former state unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu accompanied him.
Later Yadav spoke to reporters. Responding to a question on alliance with AAP, Yadav said, “We will hold a meeting with senior leaders and various officials including block presidents in Chandigarh. I want to know people's feelings. The party leadership had clarified the situation a few days ago and said that the decision will be taken according to the sentiments of our leaders and people. Many leaders of punjab congress are against any alliance with the ruling AAP in the state for the lok sabha elections. Are against the alliance. In response to another question, he said that congress was strong, is strong and will remain strong. He said, “Our organization strongly raises various social and political issues from the streets to the assembly.”
