Reportedly the india Meteorological Department on monday warned about cold-wave days in central parts of the nation for this month. It also predicted dense fog days over northwest and east india till january 4. Amid the New Year spirit, the national capital on tuesday woke up to mild fog. However, foggy conditions did affect train and flight operations. At least 26 trains approaching delhi are running late. As per IMD’s forecast, dense to very dense conditions are likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, North-east india and many other states.Director General of IMD, Dr Mrityunjay Mohapatra said, “During january 5 – january 11, we are expecting night temperature to fall, it may lead to cold wave conditions in some parts of central India… day temperature will also be below normal leading to cold day conditions especially in Madhya Pradesh, northern parts of Maharashtra, southern parts of Uttar Pradesh.”Cold to severe cold conditions will probably continue over some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and north rajasthan during next two days. IMD forecast also indicated at dense fog conditions over Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West bengal, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West bengal and Jharkhand. IMD reports said that the mercury has dropped to a minimum of 9 degrees Celsius.
