Full 20 quintals of paddy is not being purchased, farmers upset

Paddy procurement has started from november 1 at support price in other districts including Bastar division of

cooperative societies in Bastar division have arranged for the purchase of paddy from the farmers. Has been

With the formation of the new government in Chhattisgarh, farmers are reaching these centers in large numbers to

sell paddy, but some farmers say that only 17 to 18 quintals of paddy is being purchased from them, whereas

according to the corporation, a farmer can buy up to 20 quintals of paddy. While the LAMPS managers sitting in

the paddy procurement centers are calling it a government order and an order from the district administration

officials. Due to buying about 2 to 3 quintals less paddy from the farmers, the farmers seem to be very worried

about the remaining paddy and are demanding from the government to purchase the full 20 quintals of paddy.

Farmers are getting worried due to purchasing less paddy in procurement centers

In fact, in more than 10 paddy procurement centers of Bastar development block of Bastar district, only 17 to 18

quintals of paddy is being purchased from hundreds of farmers, whereas according to the order received from the

government, 20 quintals of paddy per acre is to be purchased from one farmer. The centers where less paddy is

being purchased from farmers include Mundagaon, Salemta, Bhanpuri, Chapka, Ghotia and other centers of this

area. Farmers reaching these centers to sell paddy say that they are getting 16 and maximum 18 quintals from

them. Only paddy is being purchased.
