administration in the city, as these files were pending with Kailash Gehlot for several months.
Lieutenant governor approved
Officials said that the Chief Minister's office has written a letter to the Lieutenant Governor's office
recommending handing over the charge of the Law Department to Atishi and it has received the approval of
Lieutenant governor Vinay Saxena. The aam aadmi party government has not officially responded to this.
Now Atishi has most of the departments.
With this change, the number of portfolios held by Atishi has increased to 14, which is the highest among the
ministers of kejriwal government. Earlier in October, he was given the charge of water department. In June,
Atishi was given charge of the revenue, planning and finance departments. These departments were earlier with
Kailash Gehlot.
What is left in Kailash Gehlot's share?
Kailash Gehlot now has the charge of Transport, Home, Administrative Reforms and Information Technology
departments. Lieutenant governor Saxena on thursday had recalled all the files related to courts, judicial
infrastructure, speedy justice and justice administration system in the city, which the Law minister had allegedly
delayed in disposing of. Officials of raj Niwas had told that the Lieutenant governor has directed that all such
files which were pending with the Law minister of delhi for six months, should be handed over to him within
three days. On december 4, in a report by the Principal Secretary (Law and Justice), 18 such files were brought
to the notice of the Lieutenant Governor's Secretariat, which were pending.
