Kanker is located at a distance of about 150 kilometers from the capital Raipur. BJP is now trying to return to power in the state. Voting for the ninety-member state assembly will be heldin two phases on november 7 and 17. Voting will be held in the first phase in seven districts of Naxal-affected Bastar division and 20 seats in Rajnandgaon, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Kabirdham andKhairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai districts and in the second phase on the remaining 70 seats. Counting ofvotes will take place on december 3.
