MSRTC bus services suspended in five districts of Marathwada...
Amid violence over the maratha community’s demand for reservation, bus services of the State Road
Transport Corporation (MSRTC) have been completely stopped in five districts of the Marathwada region in
Central Maharashtra. A corporation official gave this information on Tuesday. He said that bus services have
been completely suspended in Parbhani, Dharashiv, Latur, Jalna and Nanded districts for the last three-four
days and bus services have been affected to some extent in Beed, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Solapur
districts. He said that due to this agitation, 36 out of 250 MSRTC depots in the state remained closed on
monday evening. According to him, more than 85 buses of the corporation have been damaged in the last four
days, maximum 70 buses were damaged in Beed district while four buses were set on fire by the protesters.
The movement due to reservation intensified when reservation activist Manoj Jarange started a fast unto death
on 25 october with this demand.
MSRTC suffers loss of Rs 4 crore due to agitation
The official said that MSRTC has suffered a loss of Rs 4 crore so far. He said that apart from this, the
corporation is incurring a loss of Rs 2 to 2.5 crore every day due to suspension of bus services. There are
about 15,000 buses in the corporation's fleet in which about 60 lakh people travel every day.

mumbai Police. In fact, the agitators are demanding that the maratha community be included in the OBC
category, so that they can get the benefits of reservation.
