Amid Israel's Gaza onslaught, iran has initiated a two-day military drill in central Isfahan, under the command of its ground troops, as a demonstration of military readiness. The operation, dubbed Eghtedar 1402, got underway in the Isfahan neighbourhood of Nasrabad on friday morning. The drills take place at the same time when US and Iranian tensions over the conflict in palestine following the Hamas attack are at an all-time high.

The Israeli military stepped escalated its assault on Hamas, a Palestinian armed organisation, in northern Gaza. On october 7, israel started war against Hamas after it assaulted Israeli cities, resulting in over 1400 Israeli and international people being murdered and taken captive. On that day, IDF fighter jets and ground forces conducted their "most intense" offensive. Additionally, israel shut off the majority of the internet and communications in the Gaza Strip. Hamas launched a missile attack in retaliation as well.

The tunnels under Gaza present Israeli soldiers with a new obstacle in their conflict with Hamas. It is thought that Hamas has created tunnels in the Gaza Strip for attack, smuggling, and storage. These tunnels, according to Israeli authorities, are up to 80 metres deep and hundreds of km long. Many IEDs and booby traps are expected to be placed inside these tunnels, according to experts. The mission assigned to Israel's elite force, Yahalom, is to locate, excavate, and eliminate underground tunnels.
