diplomatic dispute with canada could affect India-US relations. It was said in the report that expressing this
apprehension, US Ambassador Eric Garcetti had alerted his team.
American media organization The Politic reported that Garcetti also said that the US needs to reduce its
contacts with indian officials for an undetermined period. When asked about this report, a US Embassy
spokesperson said, “The US Embassy rejects these reports. “Ambassador Garcetti is working hard every day to
deepen the partnership between the people and governments of the united states and India.”

Ambassador Garcetti and the US Mission in india are working every day to advance our important and strategic
partnership with India.”

Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau had alleged that there was a possibility of involvement of Indian
agents in the murder of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June. After this there was tension in the
relations between india and Canada. india rejected the allegations as absurd and motivated and expelled a
senior Canadian diplomat in a tit-for-tat manner, as Ottawa had also expelled an indian diplomat.
