Ashneer Grover accused Indore of buying cleanliness survey
Controversy arose on sunday over the sarcastic statement of Bharat Pay co-founder Ashneer Grover regarding
Indore continuing to be the leader in the Central Government's National Cleanliness Survey. After the alleged
video of this statement was circulated on social media, indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava expressed strong
displeasure and said that a defamation notice will be sent to Grover for the alleged insult to the citizens and
sanitation workers of the city.
Accused of buying survey
Actually, Grover was addressing the business convention organized by the indore unit of Jain international Trade
Organization (JITO). During this, Grover said in a sarcastic tone, "There is an idea - playing to the gallery means
wherever you go, brag about the place that I have not seen such a nice city. Now what is the problem with me that
after three-four years Took that indore is the cleanest city? You have bought the survey. It is a simple matter."
'Bhopal is more preferred'
When the audience raised a hue and cry and protested against Grover's statement, he said, "In the case of being the
cleanest city, we don't just count the packets of chips, we also count the debris. Construction is going on
everywhere (in the city)." However, the co-founder of Bharat immediately clarified that he was not saying that
Indore is dirty. He said that what he meant to say is that many construction works are going on in the city. Grover
said, "If you ask me personally, I like bhopal much more (than Indore). bhopal has lakes and the natural sites
there are better.
