
Big decision of Punjab cabinet, Institute of Liver in Mohali
The punjab cabinet, under the leadership of punjab Chief minister Bhagwant Mann, on monday approved the
establishment of the punjab Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences in Mohali. This is an important decision taken
with the aim of providing world class treatment for liver and biliary diseases to the people. The decision to this
effect was taken in the meeting of the Council of Ministers. A spokesperson of the Chief Minister's office said the
decision was aimed at making the state emerge as a hub of medical care facilities.
Actually, this center to be built at a cost of Rs 59 crore will act as a catalyst to provide better diagnosis, health
facilities, consultation and treatment facilities for liver related diseases at affordable rates. The cabinet also
approved 484 temporary posts in the upcoming institute to ensure that people get the most out of it. The cabinet
also gave green signal to fill 20 technical cadre posts of direct recruitment quota in the Department of Governance
Reforms and Public Grievances as per the departmental rules.
Recruitment will be done in schools in the first phase
The objective of this decision is to improve the efficiency and quality of work and smooth functioning of the
department in the larger public interest. Out of these 20, four posts will be of Assistant Manager (Group A), six
posts of Technical Assistant (Group B) and 10 posts of district Technical Coordinator (Group B). To ensure all-
round development of students, the cabinet has approved the appointment of visiting faculty in government
schools of the state. In the first phase, visiting faculty will be appointed in 117 government schools and then it will
be repeated in other schools. On the other hand, persons who have retired as teaching faculty from any government
or private school, college or university will be eligible for the Visiting Resource Faculty Scheme.
