SIBY JEYYA
Farmers from seven villages protested in the Gajwel assembly district, where chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was elected, demanding compensation for land taken for the Mallannasagar reservoir's construction. On Sunday, reservoir evictees held a rasta roko on the Rajiv Rahadari, which stopped all vehicle movement. The farmers protested the state government while standing on the highway. For the acquisition of the land, they demanded full payment of compensation. Long stretches of the Hyderabad-Karimnagar motorway saw a disruption in vehicular traffic.

They claimed that some 13,000 acres of patta land were purchased for Mallannasagar, a project associated with the kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme (KLIS), in order to build it. They claimed that the BRS administration had promised them housing and open plots as part of the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) package in addition to compensation. The agricultural land's market value is approximately Rs 20 lakh per acre, but the state government announced a "6 lakh compensation. The release of houses and plots, as well as the complete payment of compensation, have not yet been approved, they claimed.
For the construction of the Mallannasagar reservoir, farmers from nine villages in the Toguta and Kondapaka mandals lost their farms. Farmers had been persuaded to give up their property for the Mallannasagar by sarpanches, MPTC, and ZPTC members. The ousted individuals are currently exerting pressure on the elected officials to release the awaiting pay. The district government is frequently contacted by the farmers, but in vain. In order to receive fair remuneration, about 1,000 farmers filed court cases.
Prathap reddy of Etigadda Kistapur told india Herald that the government had refused to provide the farmers compensation. He said that several farmers committed suicide as a result of their anguish about losing their farms and not receiving adequate compensation. The plots and homes promised to the ousted by BRS leaders to the farmers have not materialised as promised. Farmers' names were removed from the list of compensation under the guise of oustee migration, he claimed.
Srinivas reddy, an extra collector in Siddipet, convinced the farmers to end their protest. He promised that Chandrashekar Rao and minister T. harish rao would be made aware of the problem. Farmers' representatives threatened to restart their protest after a week if the authorities didn't fix the issues.  They said that Chandrashekar Rao was not made aware of the situation of farmers by district officials.
