The bombay high court judge resigned during the hearing..!?

bombay high court judge Justice Rohit Dev shocked everyone by announcing his resignation in a packed courtroom on Friday. Announcing his resignation in court, Justice Dev said that he cannot compromise his self-esteem. All his bench-listed hearings were canceled for the day after the announcement. However, he cited personal reasons for his resignation. During the hearing in the court, Justice Rohit Dev said that those who are present in the court, I apologize to all of you. I scolded you because I want you to improve. I don't want to hurt anyone because you are all like family to me. Let me tell you that I have submitted my resignation. I cannot act against my self-esteem. You guys work hard. However, speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, Justice Rohit Dev said that he has resigned due to personal reasons and has sent his resignation letter to the President of India. In 2022, Justice Rohit Dev acquitted former delhi University professor GN Saibaba in a case of alleged Maoist links. Along with this, the sentence of life imprisonment awarded to him was canceled. The court held that the proceedings were null and void in the absence of valid sanctions under the UAPA. However, this decision was challenged in the supreme court and the supreme court ordered the nagpur Bench of the high court to hear the case afresh.

Last week, Justice Rohit Dev stayed the maharashtra government's january 3 order authorizing it to set aside fines or other action imposed by the revenue department on contractors working on the state's Nagpur-Mumbai Samriddhi Expressway for illegal mining. Justice Rohit Dev was appointed as a judge in the bombay high court in june 2017. He was due to retire in december 2025. Earlier he was the Advocate General of maharashtra in 2016. But suddenly his resignation became the subject of discussion.
