Union Finance Ministry-controlled National Payments Corporation of india (NCPI), which develops and operates the UPI service in india, has signed an MoU in 2022 to tie up with France's secure online payment platform Lyra. This has been made possible after several months of joint effort. In february this year, India's UPI service platform was linked with Singapore's instant payment network PayNow, making payments between the two countries much faster. As india is one of the most remittance-rich countries in the world, such payment connectivity will have huge benefits in remittances. The indian government has been in talks with around 30 countries for last year to take UPI to the rest of the world. In this, MoUs have already been made with three countries namely france, United Arab Emirates and Singapore.
