Sivaganga was hit by strong cyclonic winds and hail. In this, 10 electric poles and more than 100 trees fell. The chennai Meteorological Department has informed us that due to the heat wave in tamil Nadu, there will be heavy rain with thunder in many districts. In this case yesterday evening at 3.30 pm there was rain in the Sivagangai area with strong cyclonic wind. There was a hailstorm in areas including Annanagar, Srinivasa nagar, Armed Forces Quarters, and Madurai. A power pole in Kanjirangal village near sivaganga was blown down by the cyclone and fell on a cattle shed on the roadside.
In this Manthasavadi roof tiles were damaged. Traffic was affected due to a power pole lying across the road. 2 more poles were snapped and leaning. After that, the people of the area informed the power board officials and made sure that no one goes near the electric poles until they arrived. Apart from this, trees fell at 10 places including the government school campus in the area. In Sivagangai nagar, an old tree in the sub-station complex fell down on the power lines, causing the pole to fall.
An electric pole on Naoroji Street also fell. As a result, power supply was cut for several hours in many parts of the city. A tree fell on the gate of the nagar Primary health Center near the municipal office, closing it so that no one could enter the station. Apart from this, more than 100 trees fell in front of the district Collector's house, in front of the DSP office, in front of the Public Works Department office, CP Colony, Armed Forces Quarters, annamalai nagar, Majid Road, Railway Subway etc.
