Ordinary people have no chance of running for President!!
Apart from these two, 113 other nominations were rejected. 28 nominations were rejected at the preliminary stage. Some of the rest are non-compliant with the terms and conditions and some are Rs. 15 thousand caution deposits were not tied up.
It should be noted here that MPs must propose to run as a presidential candidate. As well as the support of a few other MPs. Those who are contesting on behalf of the ruling-opposition will have the support of MPs anyway.
The supreme court has recently struck down a case filed by a person in the same matter. The plaintiff's argument is that the proposal should remove the provision that only MPs should be supporters. But the supreme court did not take into account the man's ideas. What is the way for non-political people to contest if 30 MPs are to be found as supporters of the proposals? Certainly what MPs have to sign is that non-political individuals are being denied the opportunity to compete.
