Stalin has replaced the district secretary as he came to know about the inner workings of the DMK in alliance with the bjp in the Nagercoil mayoral election.
Indirect elections for the posts of chairman and vice-chairman in the urban local government were held yesterday. There have been some incidents in which the chief minister nodded to Stalin. Many incidents took place as the DMK contested and won the seat allotted to the coalition parties, defeating the candidates declared by the party and the contesting candidates winning.
A nod to Stalin!
Similar incidents have taken place in many municipalities. Out of a total of 21 corporations, DMK and congress candidates, who contested in 16 seats and 5 seats, accepted the mayoral post. Despite his overwhelming victory over the people, stalin was saddened by the inner workings of the party.
How many seats for whom?
Out of a total of 52 wards in Nagercoil Corporation, the DMK alliance captured 32 wards. The DMK won 24, the congress 7 and the DMK 1. At the same time, the bjp won in 11 wards and the AIADMK in 7 wards. The DMK alliance is sure to win as it has a majority so it was expected that other parties would not file nominations. But a by-election was held on behalf of the BJP.
BJP fears defeat for DMK!
The DMK candidate was expected to get 32 votes while the party-backed candidate got 28 votes. The bjp candidate lost by 24 seats to the expected 20 seats. The mayoral candidate Mahesh, who was fielded for the DMK, won but went to the opposition with 4 votes which came as a shock.

By the time that shock subsided, there had been a twist in the deputy mayoral election as well. The bjp did not field a candidate against DMK candidate Mary Latha to contest the deputy mayoral election, but Ramakrishnan contested from the DMK itself. Mary Latha won by 28 votes, while DMK candidate Ramakrishnan lost by 24 votes to bjp and AIADMK.
Mahesh phoned Stalin
Chief minister MK stalin was told at midnight on the first day of the by-elections that work was going on inside the Nagercoil corporation. Mayoral candidate Mahesh contacted chief minister Stalin's number. Usually the assistant will pick up the call. But then stalin spoke. Asked what the details were because stalin had an introduction to Mahesh.
