After schools resumed in tamil Nadu after nearly a year on september 1st, around 20 pupils and ten staff tested positive for Covid-19. While cases began to be confirmed on september 3rd, the most current cases were reported from a boarding school in Chennai. A youngster and his parents tested positive after visiting Bengaluru recently and now, a total of 120 children from the institution are being tested as well.

Ma Subramanian, the state's health minister, stated, "If pupils or instructors in any school test positive, the school would be closed down promptly, and sanitization and other SOPs will be followed. Those who have been contaminated with Covid will receive rapid medical attention. In schools around the state, randomized experiments will be performed."

The state government had devised a plan to restart classrooms after many students demanded offline classes. A number of preventative precautions were implemented. Prior to the reopening of schools, it was assured that all children and other employees were completely immunized. If pupils are concerned about personally completing lessons during the epidemic, the state education minister said they can choose for online sessions after gaining parental permission. With the likelihood of a third Covid wave looming and youngsters being the most exposed, some are questioning if reopening schools was the best decision.
