Will Delhi government hospitals be reserved for residents of National Capital
Reportedly the delhi government and some private hospitals in the city will be reserved for the residents of the national capital, chief minister arvind kejriwal announced on sunday amid the controversy over the availability of beds. The central government hospitals will remain open for all, arvind kejriwal said. While all the delhi government hospitals would be reserved for the residents of the national capital, only some private hospitals, except those where special surgeries like neurosurgery are performed, would also be reserved for them, arvind kejriwal said.
"Central government hospitals will be open for people from across the country. We do not have any jurisdiction over central hospitals," arvind kejriwal said. arvind kejriwal also announced that the delhi data-borders, that were sealed amid the apprehensions that people from other states will come to the city to avail "best health services", would be opened from Monday. In an address via a video conference, arvind kejriwal said, "Delhi has been always ready to welcome the patients across the country. But at this time, delhi is suffering from coronavirus."
Asserting that the hospital beds in delhi will be occupied in three days if the people from other states are allowed to be treated in them, arvind kejriwal said a committee has suggested that the hospitals in the city should be for delhi patients only. "We will need 15,000 beds by the end of june for Delhiites. If we allow people to come from outside, the beds will fill up in 3 days. delhi government hospitals currently have 10,000 beds and central government hospitals have 10,000 beds," he said.
