According to Nayanthara, dhanush, who produced the film, sued her for Rs 10 crore, causing a ripple effect in the industry as various actresses voiced their reactions.In her statement, Nayanthara revealed that obtaining permissions from dhanush had been challenging. She expressed disappointment, implying that Dhanush’s behavior contradicted his public persona. “What’s even more shocking is your legal notice after the release of the trailer of the Netflix Documentary. We were startled to read those lines wherein you questioned the usage of some videos (just 3 seconds) that were shot on our devices and that too BTS visuals that are already very much publicly present on social media and claimed a sum of Rs. 10 crores as damages for the mere 3 seconds."
"This is an all-time low from you and speaks so much about your character. I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage in audio launches in front of your innocent fans but you do not practice what you preach, at least not for me and my partner,” she said.

The controversy has drawn responses from several actresses who have worked with Dhanush. shruti Haasan, who starred alongside dhanush in 3 (Moonu), showed subtle support for Nayanthara by liking her post.Other co-stars such as aishwarya Rajesh (Vada Chennai), aishwarya Lekshmi (Jagame Thandhiram), Nazriya Fahadh (Naiyaandi), Anupama Parameswaran (Kodi), parvathy thiruvothu (Maryan), Manjima Mohan (Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam), and Gouri G Kishan (Karnan) also expressed their support similarly. Parvathy went further by sharing Nayanthara’s post on her instagram Stories and commending her.
Nayanthara's Documentary
The documentary, titled Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale, is set to premiere on Netflix on november 18. It aims to showcase the milestones and struggles in Nayanthara’s career and personal life, including her love story with Vignesh Shivan, which began on the set of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.In her statement, Nayanthara noted that the team opted not to use any direct footage from the film but instead included a behind-the-scenes clip available online. Despite this, dhanush filed a legal notice claiming unauthorized use of the footage.
Dhanush has yet to respond to the allegations or the growing support for Nayanthara from his former co-stars.
