Tovino Thomas Reflects on Challenges of Being an Outsider in malayalam Cinema

In a recent interview with News18, malayalam actor tovino thomas shared his thoughts on the difficulties data-faced by outsiders in the South indian film industry, which often favors actors from film families. Despite lacking a film legacy, Tovino has built a successful career and offered his perspective on the dynamics between insiders and outsiders.
Tovino explained, "In the film industry, there are two sides to the story. For those from film families, initial opportunities might come more easily, but long-term success depends on their talent and skill. For outsiders, landing that first role is challenging, but once they prove themselves, it's all about their talent and dedication. The playing field levels out after the first opportunity."
He also pointed out the pressures data-faced by actors from film families: “Children of established actors data-face immense expectations to match their parents’ achievements right from the start. people judge them based on their parents' past successes, even though it took those parents years to achieve that status. My father is a lawyer, so my career ups and downs don’t reflect on him. But if my father were an actor, there would be pressure for me to live up to his legacy.”
Tovino noted that many successful star kids earn their place through hard work rather than just their family background: “Many actors who start with a family advantage are successful due to their hard work and talent. The initial boost might help, but eventually, it’s their skills and efforts that matter.”
Krithi Shetty, his co-star in the upcoming film Ajayante Randam Moshanam, agreed with Tovino’s views, emphasizing that both insiders and outsiders data-face their own unique challenges.
Tovino and Krithi will be seen together in the fantasy drama Ajayante Randam Moshanam, set to release on september 12.
