Mufasa: The Lion King Trailer Shows Mufasa And Taka Turn Enemies From Siblings
Going by the trailer, it seems like the film will centre more around the unspoken story of Mufasa and his brother Scar, who was once known as Taka. Mufasa, as an orphaned cub, comes around Taka’s pride only to be rejected by others. However, the two eventually bond together and become “brothers.”
As they grow up together, playing and fighting enemies side by side, things take a different turn as Taka turns against Mufasa to become the only “Lion King.” With plenty of danger, daring and humour along the way, the prequel promises to shed light on Mufasa’s unseen life before becoming the distinguished king of the African savannah.
“Exploring the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, “Mufasa: The lion King” enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe,” the official synopsis reads.
While Aaron Pierre will lead as Mufasa, Kelvin Harrison will voice Taka as Scar, followed by Tiffany Boone as Sarabi, Thandiwe Newton as Taka’s mother Eshe and Donald Glover as Simba. Directed by Barry Jenkins, the live-action film is set to arrive in theatres this December.
