A Proud Moment For All Hyderabadis

The latest film by bollywood superstar ajay Devgan, "Maidaan," will be released tomorrow on the eve of Ramadan. This video, which depicts the narrative of SA Rahim, the legendary football coach from india, who led the national team to win gold in the Asian Games in 1962, is a source of pride for all Hyderabadians as well as a story of triumph and perseverance.

SA Rahim was the one who first thought that playing football would help india get international recognition during the british colonial era. Syed Abdul Rahmi travelled the length and width of the country to identify the ideal players for the squad, in spite of politics from the Bengal-led Football Federation of india, which has always seen bengal players as being there in the team rather than developing a team for the nation. If the chatter at the premieres is any indication, Rahim battled with the authorities in the first part of the film, and in the second half, he talks about his personal battle with cancer and how he helped the team win.

Although the movie has its high points and low points, there are a lot of heartfelt moments in the theatre because to the technical mastery, compelling story, stunning cinematography, and outstanding background soundtrack by AR Rahman. The narrative of their own kid being portrayed on television should make every Hyderabadi feel proud. Surprise! For the 64 years that have passed since Rahim's death in 1963, india has never qualified for the olympics in football.
