Sonam Kapoor Appointed As Member Of Tate Modern's South Asia Acquisition Committee

Sonam is the only indian actor to have been chosen for this prestigious position, which promotes art from South Asia.

Sonam Kapoor has achieved yet another milestone. The renowned Tate Modern, one of the world's largest museums of modern and contemporary art, has appointed sonam kapoor as a member of their South Asia Acquisition Committee.


Recognized for her influence in style, fashion, and art, Sonam Kapoor's induction into this prestigious role underscores her commitment to promoting indian and South Asian art on the global stage. As the only indian actor to be bestowed with this honor by Tate Modern, sonam kapoor expressed her gratitude, stating, “I’m deeply honored to join the prestigious Tate Modern as a member of their South Asia Acquisition Committee. My fascination with indian and South Asian art has been a lifelong journey, during which I have endeavored to champion our artists at every opportunity.”


The actress also said, “South Asia’s rich legacy of art is finally gaining the global recognition it deserves. As an indian and a South Asian, it’s a privilege to witness our art taking center stage. This role at Tate Modern allows me to actively endorse and advocate for our remarkable artworks and artists on a historic platform."

On the personal front, sonam kapoor and her husband, entrepreneur anand Ahuja, welcomed a baby, Vayu in august 2022. 


Sonam Kapoor's most recent film appearance was in 'Blind', which also featured purab kohli and Vinay Pathak. Before it, she had a brief appearance in 'AK vs. AK', directed by vikramaditya Motwane.
