Worst Performing Industry of 2024?
For major film studios, the current 2024 box office season has been fairly barren. However, war 2, Maidaan, and article 370 in hindi film have registered decent numbers, despite huge triumphs being few and far between. HanuMan, a film from Tollywood, grossed more over Rs 300 crore, and Tillu Square, more than Rs 100 crore. Because Manjummel Boys and Premalu have performed above average and maintained Malayali film in the top tier, malayalam cinema has been the best-performing sector.
In terms of the 2024 worst-performing industries, tamil cinema has to be at the top of the list. Even ordinary films are having trouble breaking even, much alone major box office hits. Their biggest film of the year, Captain Miller, starring Dhanush, is said to have crossed the Rs 100 crore threshold. It is still regarded as a losing endeavour, though.
Next comes Siva Karthikeyan's Ayalaan, which was a huge failure as well. Both of the big tamil films from 2024 have been a complete box office flop. Then there's the colossal failure that is Rajinikanth's appearance in the movie Lal Salaam. tamil cinema remains at the top of the list of industries with the poorest performance to date, since the three noteworthy tamil films of the year are all box office bombs.
