Following war and Pathaan, siddharth anand established himself as one of the country's top filmmakers. Some commentators lauded him as India's Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay. However, his most recent picture, fighter, has proven to be a massive commercial flop. Despite being technically solid and engaging, the picture received little support from mainstream viewers. Now, in a recent interview, director siddharth anand has explained why fighter failed to meet box office projections. His words have prompted several trolls on social media.
He claimed, "90 percent of our country's people has never flown on an aircraft or visited an airport. So, how do you think they'll know what's going on in the air during the film's battle scenes? Many in the audience found the premise strange and were unable to appreciate the screenplay's high points." Many people in the audience may not have experienced many of the things shown in films, but many films with fresh themes have proven successful. It is the director's obligation to ensure that the audience understands what is occurring on screen.
If the audience is unable to understand what is occurring on the big screen, it is the director's responsibility, not theirs. How could Sid anand miss such simple and clear logic?
