Class vs. Mass: Will 'Dunki' Be a Match for 'Salaar' at the Box Office?

Bollywood Bad Shah Shahrukh Khan's latest movie Dunki.  It has become clear that it will be released on christmas with the latest teaser. With this, Salaar vs. Dunki is fixed at the box office. However, Salaar's fans were a bit tense till now that Shah Rukh, who is on a roll with two Rs 1000 crore blockbuster hits, is coming to compete with their film, but now it seems that they are happy.

Shah Rukh changed his route after hitting two mass-action entertainers like Pathan and Jawan. He became classy in Dunki. Rajkumar Hirani's mark is clearly visible in the teaser. Action was not seen anywhere in the teaser which was a fun, love and emotional drama. Although it does not seem that this soft story movie will be a hit. It seems that it will not be a competition compared to Salaar.


Now there is not much demand for rajkumar hirani brand class entertainers. Nowadays movie lovers are more inclined towards mass and action movies. Especially the North audience. If there are hero elevations, huge action sequences and visuals, they are going to the theatres in a big way. An example of that is Shah Rukh Khan's last two films Pathan and Jawaan. 


Even though there is no big story in these films, the audience is fed up with the action scenes. Things like this are present in Salaar. So everyone is predicting that Salaar will dominate Dunki in South as well as North. No matter how good the talk is for Dunki, it may be limited to multiplexes in metro cities. But in other places it is difficult to withstand Salaar's aggression. But Salar can make a strong impact in metro cities and multiplexes as well.
