James Gunn has the chance to make up for a lost opportunity from his time with the MCU in his leadership position with the recently established DC Studios. Gunn, who joined the DC Extended Universe in 2021 with The Suicide Squad and its spinoff series, Peacemaker, is assisting Peter Safran in directing the franchise's future as co-CEO of DC Studios. The "DC Bible," a 10-year plan mapped out by Gunn and Safran, will include DC films, tv series, animation, and video games.
James Gunn was well-known for directing the Guardians of the Galaxy film series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) before joining the newly rebranded DC Universe. His early work with DC Studios coincides with his final Marvel endeavours, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will be released in 2023. In the meantime, Gunn's oversight of the DCU's future may restore a significant position he formerly held in the bigger MCU.
Immediately upon the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, james Gunn was linked to the creation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's cosmic branch. Later, Kevin Feige stated that Gunn's work on the Guardians of the Galaxy films was only the inspiration for the cosmic themes in Marvel. Gunn was eventually rehired by Disney after being fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 due to contentious earlier tweets, but his professional situation had become slightly more problematic.
