India–EU FTA in a Decisive Stage


External Affairs minister S. jaishankar stated that india is entering a decisive phase in negotiations for the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA).


He emphadata-sized that Netherlands’ support is crucial due to its significant role within the european Union.


India views the netherlands as an important partner in advancing discussions related to trade and economic cooperation with the EU.


Bilateral Talks with Dutch Foreign Minister


Jaishankar met Dutch Foreign minister David van Weel in New delhi for bilateral discussions.


He described the talks as productive and forward-looking.

Defence and security

Shipping and maritime affairs

Water management

Agriculture and health

Culture and people-to-people ties

He said these sectors provide an opportunity to raise the ambition of bilateral ties.

Several important agreements signed in recent months have given new momentum and direction to bilateral cooperation.

Jaishankar expressed interest in exchanging views on global and regional developments.


He underlined the importance of data-aligning perspectives on international challenges and future cooperation.


High-Level Engagements Strengthen Ties


Prime minister Narendra Modi and the Dutch prime minister met earlier at the G20 Summit.


PM Modi noted rapid progress in water resources, innovation, technology, and energy cooperation.


Defence minister Rajnath Singh also met the Dutch Foreign minister, discussing defence cooperation, including co-development and co-production of defence equipment.
