Sania mirza broke her engagement with the owner of 'Universal Bakers before her marriage to Shoaib Malik

Tennis star sania mirza broke her engagement with her childhood friend and Universal Baker's owner Sohrab mirza before marrying Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. 

When Dr. Otis Milburn said, "There are seven billion people on the planet and one of them is going to climb the moon for you." We wondered if this is just fiction or does it happen in real life as well. Then tennis sensation sania mirza proved that one can go to any extent for the sake of love. When she dared to marry Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik on 12 april 2010, she had erased data-border boundaries and religious differences. Both countries were surprised to see two strong athletes together as husband and wife.

But unfortunately, the rumors of their divorce have been doing the rounds on the internet for a long time and as per several reports, Sania caught Shoaib cheating, which led to their separation. However, before tying the knot with Shoaib, Sania was engaged to Sohrab mirza, the owner of Universal Baker. He was friends since childhood and his parents were close for three generations. Sania and Sohrab were all set to get married but due to some differences, they could not do so.

In a 2010 interview with The Times of India, Sohrab Malik revealed that he knew that his engagement with sania mirza would soon break. Describing it as a mutual decision to engage and a heartbreaking shared decision to part ways, she had said, "It was a mutual decision to get engaged and we mutually decided to part ways even though it would have hurt. Yes, but you have to move on."

Further, in the same conversation, Sohrab had said that though they were friends for the last six years, they saw a rift between each other only after their engagement. Their marriage was on the cards, but unfortunately, they called it off. He had said, "The differences between us came only after the engagement, we realized that we were completely different. However, we had known each other for almost six years and our families have been friends for three generations."

He had told whether Sania's stardom was a problem for Sohrab's family. He had said that Sania may be a celebrity to the outside world, but she was an ordinary girl to him and he was very proud of her. Sohrab had said that Sania's popularity never hurt her ego as she came from a commercial background and was into sports. In his words, “She was a celebrity to the world, but to me, she was an ordinary girl. He has worked very hard to achieve what he has achieved and I am proud of his achievements. I also run a good business, so there was no competition between us."

There were also rumors doing the rounds that Sohrab's family had asked Sania to leave her tennis career after marriage. However, Sania's father did not agree to their terms and did not want his daughter to sacrifice her career for the sake of love. Hence, misunderstandings escalated between the two families and they called off the engagement. Eventually, Sania found the love of her life Shoaib Malik and married him in a grand wedding ceremony. Together they have a son, whose name is Izhaan mirza Malik.
