Even though he removed the reply option from his tweets, internet users criticised him for it. Quickly, Resul's post was retweeted by Baahubali producer Shobu Yarlagadda, who then criticised him. He noted: "Last night (sic), I watched 30 minutes of crap called RRR. After replying to his tweet, Resul found himself in soup. He noted: "A prop in that movie is @aliaa08, according to the gay love narrative (sic).
Resul Pookutty received harsh criticism from Baahubali director Shobu Yarlagadda, who described his remarks as "very disappointing." He noted: "I disagree that @RRRMovie is a gay love story, but even if it were, would that be a negative thing? How is this use justified. I'm shocked at how low-spirited someone with your accomplishments can be." Shobu's tweet was shared by Resul, who urged him not to go personal because he hadn't intended to hurt anyone.
