Big Budget Entertainers are planning for OTT release - Theater Owners in Trouble
The Second wave of Corona has forced all theaters to shut down once again. We already reported that many biggies are now looking to release the movie on their OTT platforms. Dhanush's 'Jagame Thandhiram' is already scheduled for a release on Netflix Platform on june 18th. Now, Siva Karthikeyan's 'Doctor' is scheduled for a release on Netflix by late Summer. The team planned for a theatrical release initially.
Even ravi Teja's 'Khiladi' might get an OTT release if theaters are not reopened by June. The Producers who have produced the big movies are suffering as they have to pay the interest from their hands and after a certain stage, it is too hard on them. Lots of tamil and telugu movies are piling up for a release and with theaters are closed, they are looking for alternatives already.
When we asked a prominent distributor he revealed that it was so shocking to see many biggies preferring OTT release as he ensured the situation will be normal in a couple of months and once again theaters will be reopened. But it is sad to see many producers are rushing to release the movie on OTT platforms. He lashed out at the 'Doctor' team for not releasing the movie as planned on march 26, 2021 and had they released, it would have been a boon for them as no other biggies released at that period.
