According to sources in the news published in the Economic Times, this decision will soon be sent to the National Electronic Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) in pakistan and a notification will be issued to implement uniform tariff across the country. Through this move, the Pak government aims to support the IMF bailout to cover the financial deficit despite consumer tension. The National Electronic Power Regulatory Authority has claimed in a report that Pakistan's power sector has suffered a loss of $ 403 billion in the financial year 2022-23.
New electricity tariff rates will be considered effective from July 1
An application will be registered with NEPRA to increase the electricity tariff and this decision will be taken for the financial year 2024-25. It will be considered effective from July 1, 2024, after which the basic power tariff will increase from Rs 29.78 to 35.50 Pakistani rupees.
Petrol and diesel have already become expensive in Pakistan. On July 1, the price of petrol in pakistan has been increased by Rs 7.45 per liter, after which petrol is being sold there at Rs 265.61 per liter. Apart from this, after the increase in the rate of diesel by Rs 9.60 per liter, the price of diesel has become Rs 277.49 per liter.
