Nipah virus has caused two suspicious deaths..!?
Once again, the Nipah virus is causing concern. Suspects of Nipah virus infection are being raised after two people died suspiciously in Kerala. In this background, the kerala health Department has announced a health alert in kozhikode district. State health Minister Veena George has called an urgent high-level meeting to review the situation. Two people died of high fever in a private hospital in Kozhikode. Due to this, the medical staff expressed suspicion that the Nipah virus might have been infected. A relative of one of the deceased persons is also admitted to the hospital with a fever and is being treated.
First, a 49-year-old man died on august 30. Then on Monday, september 11, a 40-year-old man lost his life. Both also suffered from fever and pneumonia-like symptoms. Officials have sent the samples collected from the dead for testing. Officials revealed that they have conducted a fever survey in the concerned area. They said the first fever of the season was recorded 20 km away from the house of the deceased.
In May 2018, the first outbreak of the Nipah virus occurred in South India. Then the first case was reported in kozhikode, Kerala. Then around 17 people lost their lives due to this virus. A nurse who treated the patients also died. Again in 2021, many people died due to the spread of the Nipah virus in kozhikode district. A 12-year-old boy died due to an infection. According to the World health Organization, Nipah virus infection is a zoonotic disease. That means it is transmitted from animals to humans. Contaminated food or direct person-to-person transmission. people infected with this disease are prone to severe respiratory infections. Fever is high. The WHO has revealed that the mortality rate is around 70 percent. There is no vaccine for this virus yet.
