All the schools and colleges in the Nilgiri district will be given a one-day holiday only, according to the district administration chief S.P. Amrit. The district administration chairman also said that strict action will be taken against the schools or colleges that are running in violation of this order. As the red Alert has been issued for the Nilgiris district tomorrow, tamil Nadu Forest minister K. Ramachandran held an emergency consultation with all departmental officials in Utkai.

A yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for these areas, the Meteorological Department said in a statement.
