The effect of the new Corona variant XBB.1.16 has also been found maximum in maharashtra and gujarat only. A top expert of the Central Government's Genome Sequencing Network had told on wednesday that the XBB.1.16 variant has been found in maximum samples of india in the whole world. In india, 48 samples have been found positive for this variant, out of which 39 are from maharashtra alone and 8 are from Gujarat. This variant is considered to be highly contagious. In such a situation, it is bound to get more new cases in these two states.

What has been written by the central government in the letter?

The Union health Secretary said in a letter to 6 states, the high number of new cases in some states is indicating the local spread of the virus. In such a situation, there is a need to follow the risk-assessment approach so that the spread of infection can be stopped. It is necessary to do this in order not to lose the victory won so far in the fight against the epidemic. In the letter, the states have been asked to review the situation of Corona at the micro level (district level) and take necessary steps.
