New Labour law..!? What changes in working hours & Holidays..!?
There are currently 44 laws in india governing labor, employment, and working conditions. It deals with wages, social security, labor welfare, occupational safety, wages and health, labor welfare, occupational safety, and health and industry relations. It is divided into the Wage Law Set - 2019, the Occupational Relations Law Set - 2020, the Social Security Law Set - 2020, and the Occupational Safety health and Work Levels Code - 2020. What may be the change in working hours in this condition? What could change during the holidays?
The daily and weekly working hours may be between 12 and 48 hours due to this labor law of the state. It is stated as working 4 days a week. This can increase working hours. But the weekend can increase. There was a rule that new employees can apply for leave only if they have worked 180 days in a year but now it is now to be amended to 240 days. However, these rules are not mandatory. They can operate with flexibility between the company and employees. The government says the new labor laws will increase investment and employment in India.
Under the new labor law, take-home pay will be reduced. Whereas future deposit funds will increase. As the basic salary should be 50% of the total, the gratuity will also increase.
This is because companies will pay a gratuity equal to 15 days of the last basic pay for each year of service.  Gratuity will be given to employees who have worked for 5 years as per the existing rules. But under the new labor law, gratuity will be paid only after 1 year of service. So this will benefit most employees.
These laws are expected to be enacted by the federal government and come into force on July 1, 2022. However, the full details will be known only after its implementation.
